The Town of Blackfalds is looking for a dynamic leader and team player to fulfill the Aquatic & Fitness Coordinator position. This position is a full-time temporary position to cover an eighteen (18) month maternity leave. Reporting to the Abbey Centre General Manager, the Fitness & Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean and enjoyable facility for patron aquatic experiences, including registered programs, swimming lessons, water safety courses, in addition to unstructured leisure opportunities. The Fitness/Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring an effective, efficient and safe operation of fitness equipment, programs, events and spontaneous activities within the Fitness Centre and Running Track.

Requirements and Qualifications:
As part of the aquatic planning team you will set direction for facility planning and goals as well as the planning and development of policies and procedures specific to the aquatic facility. You will be a motivated person, will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work professionally with internal and external customers. You will possess strong skills in time management, organization skills, and strong customer service skills. Previous experience with staff scheduling in an Aquatic environment will be considered an asset.
You possess a post-secondary degree in Recreation/Physical Administration, Kinesiology or Public Administration combined with a minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience in an Aquatic and Facility leadership position (within a municipality would be an asset). You have proven ability to develop and support a high performing team committed to impeccable customer service.
Hours of Work:
This is an eighteen (18) month temporary full-time position within the Town of Blackfalds CUPE Local 417 Collective Bargaining Agreement with a 40-hour work week with the possibility of varying schedules to address operational requirements.
The hourly wage range for this position is $34.84 to $39.21 per hour as per the CUPE Local 417 Collective Agreement 2019-2021.
