Select is excited to be working with the Village of Stirling in their search for an energetic, innovative, and organized Chief Administrative Officer. Their ideal candidate will feel equally comfortable as a senior manager or as a “hands-on” team member. This dynamic position will provide leadership and direction with the support of the council, staff, and community.

Position Summary:

  • Performing the requirements as outlined in the Municipal Government Act and the Village bylaws
  • Building collaborative partnerships with leaders in the community, region, and province to drive economic growth
  • Proactively addressing emerging trends and ensuring a financially stable future
  • Recommending objectives, policies, and programs to council that can enhance resident’s quality of life and promote community spirit
  • Hiring, evaluating, training, and developing staff members; coordinating duties and activities
  • Leading and motivating an effective team in a style the promotes involvement and innovation
  • Providing executive leadership to all planning initiatives and ensuring accountability

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in HR (Human Resources), Public/Business Administration, or have a CLGM (Certified Local Government Manager) Designation
  • 5+ years of previous management experience in a public-facing municipal, non-profit, or public works position
  • Ability to bring diverse individuals and program initiatives together using strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, a big picture thinker
  • Experience in strategic planning, organization development, and achieving results in labour rations
  • Financial Management; timely and efficient in budgeting, financing, and information reporting
  • Politically astute
  • Resides within an hour of Stirling, AB

  • Previous experience as a CAO within municipal government
