The Community Services division within the City of Beaumont strives to improve the health, wellness, and vibrancy of our community. Our rapidly growing City boasts a brand new community centre, a multi-use recreational facility (phase 2 under construction), indoor and outdoor ice rinks, a vast assortment of community programming, and numerous public events and celebrations throughout the year. The Community Services division is recruiting a Director to lead a team of individuals who are passionate about our community and the people who make life better in Beaumont.
Reporting to the General Manager, Community & Protective Services, this position is responsible for the management and leadership of Recreation, Culture, Parks and Facilities encompassing programs, special events, arts/culture, indoor/outdoor program management, facility operations, aquatics and parks service areas with a commitment to the community. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a Community Services and Community Volunteer model, as well as have the ability to plan and coordinate a variety of resources, activities and projects in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment. A thorough knowledge of the relationship between Recreation/Culture and Parks/Facilities is important in order to manage and evaluate the needs of our residents and assist in strategically moving Beaumont forward.
The Director will use their exceptional motivational, team-building and people management skills to provide leadership to the community, while managing the daily operations. Having outstanding communication skills and sound judgement, the Director will build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Recreation, Community Development, Business Administration, Social Services or related discipline with a minimum of eight years of experience including leadership (supervisory) experience (a combination of education and work-related experience may be considered). We are looking for candidates with sound community development understanding, a strategic thinker and creative facilitator who is adaptable and works with minimal supervision. Preference will be given to applicants with municipal experience.
The salary range for this permanent full-time position is $96,678 - $126,143 (starting salary is negotiable within this range based on suitable experience and qualifications), and a competitive benefits package.
