Job Description : 

The City of Fort Saskatchewan has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly competent, results orientated, progressive leader. Reporting to the General Manager of Corporate and Protective Services, the Director of Protective Services is accountable for the effective planning, development, coordination, implementation and delivery of municipal enforcement programs and services for the City of Fort Saskatchewan. The position works closely with the RCMP which are co-located with Protective Services. This person will demonstrate sound and well informed judgment, establish and maintain effective internal and external communications, and manage incidents or emergencies decisively and effectively. The Director of Protective Services provides advice, support and guidance to the General Manager of Corporate and Protective Services, the Leadership team and members of Council. 

This position requires the completion of a university degree in the field of police studies, social sciences or a related field, along with a minimum of six years related professional experience, preferably in a municipal police environment. The successful candidate will have excellent collaboration, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills while demonstrating high political acumen and diplomacy. This person will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with a diverse range of audiences. The Director of Protective Services will have strong team building and supervisory skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor and coach staff. 

This position requires successful completion of an Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the RCMP.

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of $115,108 to $135,427 per annum. Qualified applicants are invited to apply in confidence no later than Tuesday, February 25, 2020 stating competition #J0120-1194.
