We are currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Lead, Communications to provide expertise for communication-related functions for our rapidly growing City.
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Marketing Services, this position leads strategic communications initiatives for the City of Leduc, including the development and implementation of campaigns, social media interactions, media relations, crisis communications and issues management. The Lead, Communications works collaboratively with all levels of the organization to provide quality customer service through strategic guidance, and is responsible to ensure consistent corporate messaging. This position must professionally represent the organization and maintain a positive working relationship internally and externally, with all media and community stakeholders. This position acts as a senior professional and subject matter expert, providing leadership and supervision for junior communications staff, and assisting the Director of Communications and Marketing Services with corporate messaging, branding, social media, and work assignments for departmental services.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of corporate communications experience, preferably in local government. Proficiency in Adobe Software and Microsoft Office is required for this position. The successful candidate will also provide a current Criminal Record Check as part of the hiring process.
