Reporting to the Manager, Municipal Accountability, the Municipality Accountability Advisor will hold a key role on our team by providing leadership, advising the public, and by providing ongoing support and resources to municipal administrators, and councillors, in their efforts to achieve and sustain legislative compliance in their administrative and governance processes and procedures. Acting as a first point of contact for MSD, our successful candidate will draw upon their knowledge of both the Municipal Government Act and Local Elections Authority Act to complete mini-municipal inspections in the form of municipal accountability reviews as ordered by the Minister. You will also respond to public enquiries, address concerns, and guide and support citizens, elected officials, municipalities and related partners toward a practice of continuous improvement within our municipal governance and administration in Alberta.
In this role you will utilize your strong understanding of municipal legislation, administration, and regularly demonstrate your excellent communication style to ensure our stakeholders are well informed to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of municipalities. When regular business activity and processes are fully resumed after the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant amount travel within the province can be expected when conducting or supporting accountability reviews.
