The City of Lacombe is a friendly and warm community on the Highway 2 corridor midway between Edmonton and Calgary and a short drive to Red Deer. A beautiful city blessed with abundant trees, numerous ponds and rolling hills mixes the relaxed atmosphere of small town living with first-class amenities and green spaces.

Reporting to the CAO, the Senior Manager of Financial Services, is a member of the Senior Management Team and is designated the CAO for the North Red Deer River Water Services Commission (NRDRWSC).

The incumbent provides professional advice and strategic guidance to the City and its departments on financial policies, budgeting process and reporting of financial outcomes. The goal of the position is to provide analytical support and planning for long term, sustainable decision making, ensuring linkage to the City’s Strategic Plan. Operationally responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of services provided by the Financial Services Division.

The Regional focus of this opportunity is as the CAO of the NRDRWSC. As the CAO you are responsible for the management and operations of the Commission including meetings, budgets, year-end audits, and the determination of water rates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business;
  • Professional Accounting Designation, current and in good standing;                                           
  • Strong working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act as it applies to Municipal finances;
  • 3 years related experience in municipal finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
