Location: High River, Alberta (on-site)
Foothills County has an opportunity for an experienced and proven leader with excellent communication skills to join the organization and provide overall strategic leadership, management and direction for the Public Works Operations, Agricultural Services, Utilities and Landfill components of the municipality. The position plays a crucial role on the Senior Leadership Team for Foothills County.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Public Works is responsible for the overall department operations and ensuring that the current and future departmental plans are in line with Council-approved bylaws, policies, the Municipal Government Act, provincial law, and the County's strategic priorities.
The Director of Public Works is a Designated Officer of Foothills County and is authorized by the County Council and appointed by the Chief Administrative Officer to carry out the powers, duties and function of a Designated Officer pursuant to the Municipal Government Act and any other relevant statute, regulation or bylaw.

To be successful in this position you will need:
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in public works, as well as 10 years of technical and management experience in municipal administration.
• Registration or eligibility to join the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists.
• A thorough understanding of the Municipal Government Act, bylaws, policies, and procedures.
• A Supervisor Certificate from the Canadian Public Works Association would be considered an asset.
