Alberta expands its relaunch grant to support local businesses and non-profits

The Government of Alberta recently expanded its Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant to help businesses, co-ops, and non-profits to offset a portion of their costs. Originally launched in June 2020, the grant has been updated to expand eligibility and offer up to $15,000 in additional funding for eligible organizations.

  • First payment: Organizations that saw a 30% revenue reduction in April or May 2020 can receive up to $5,000 in grant funding.
  • Second payment: Organizations approved under the first payment can receive up to $15,000 in additional funding if they were required to restrict operations because of a public health order that came into effect after November 6, 2020.
  • Organizations that began operations between March 1 and October 31, 2020 that meet the 30% threshold can apply for the grant starting February 4, 2021.

Municipalities may consider promoting this program to local businesses, cooperatives, and not-for-profit organizations that meet the criteria for eligibility.
