The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) provides funding to municipalities through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP), offering grants of up to $50,000 for a variety of asset management related initiatives. The grants are designed to assist local governments to acquire knowledge to make more informed decisions concerning infrastructure investments by using formalized asset management practices.
FCM accepts applications for MAMP projects year-round on a continuous basis. After applying, eligible municipalities can expect to have their application processed within eight weeks. Funding is available to all municipalities, whether they are FCM members or not.
Eligible asset management activities for funding include:
- Assessing the physical condition of assets
- Documenting long-term maintenance or lifecycle costs
- Implementing policies to integrate asset management practices into daily routines
- Training elected officials and staff on asset management approaches
More information on applying for MAMP funding can be found on FCM’s website.
