AUMA President’s Summit: members stand together
Thank you to our members, along with industry and community partners, media, and Government of Alberta representatives, for joining us in Edmonton last week for the AUMA President's Summit on Municipal Finances: Transparent and Effective. We had many productive conversations discussing solutions for continuing to provide critical infrastructure and services in the current period of fiscal restraint.
One of the most powerful things we can do as members of our association is to speak with a united voice and support each other during our current fiscal reality so that we can share in brighter times ahead and build strong communities, and a stronger Alberta.
Next steps
The concerns and innovative ideas you shared during the President’s Summit will form AUMA’s forthcoming submission to Premier Kenney. The submission will share the stories of our efficiency and transparency, the importance of municipal funding, and the role we can play in jumpstarting the economy.
We’ll also develop tools to help you make your voices heard, with your citizens, with your local MLA, and with your local media. Keep watching Digest and our social media accounts in the coming weeks for resources to help you communicate about how continued cuts to municipalities will have ramifications for the backbone of economic development in our province.
