The province recently released the results of its 2016 consultation on the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Regulation. This regulation sets out municipal responsibilities and service requirements for the FCSS Program, along with financial matters such as the 80/20 cost sharing arrangement between the province and municipalities and a description of eligible and prohibited costs.
AUMA’s response to the consultation identified a number of recommendations for improvement. While it is disappointing that the province is extending the regulation until June 30, 2022, with no significant amendments, there is an acknowledgement of the need for greater flexibility, capacity building, and program accountability. AUMA has requested information from the province on the improvements that will be taken through improved program communication and administration.
