Member RFD up for discussion at Municipal Leaders’ Caucus

Members will have the chance to discuss and vote on a Request for Decision (RFD) regarding a tax credit for Citizens on Patrol during next week’s Municipal Leaders’ Caucus.

Ahead of every Municipal Leader’s Caucus, Regular Members of the AUMA are invited to submit a Request for Decision, or RFD, that proposes action on a municipal matter that cannot wait for the resolution process at the annual AUMA convention.  The Village of Acme has sponsored an RFD with a recommendation that AUMA and its members sign a petition calling on the Government of Canada to extend a tax credit Citizens on Patrol similar to that already given to volunteer firefighters and search and rescue volunteers.

As the RFD was sponsored by a municipality with a population of under 2,500 it, will be discussed during the June 12 Caucus only.  Members who are not attending the June 12 session are welcome to share their perspectives on the member RFD by emailing advocacy [at] auma.ca (advocacy[at]auma[dot]ca) by June 11.

AUMA has developed a backgrounder that provides more information on the RFD process and the difference between RFDs and resolutions.
