National Infrastructure Assessment submissions deadline is June 30

June 2, 2021

As part of its ongoing work under the Canada Infrastructure Plan, the Government of Canada committed to conducting a National Infrastructure Assessment to identify the needs and priorities for the nation’s infrastructure and plan for a net-zero emissions future by 2050. The federal government is asking for submissions no longer than 10 pages, focussing on three principles:

  • Assessing infrastructure needs and establishing a long-term vision;
  • Improving coordination among infrastructure owners and funders; and
  • Determining the best ways to fund and finance infrastructure.

The three principles will be further broken down to look at standardizing building codes, workforce training and digital connectivity.

We have been advocating for many years about the importance of stable, predictable infrastructure funding. AUMA’s Infrastructure and Energy Committee will review the federal government’s infrastructure plans and provide necessary feedback. We will also work with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to coordinate and ensure that our messages align.

We encourage our members to express their feedback to the federal government via infc.info.infc@canada.ca. The submission deadline is June 30.
