Did you know that in 2012, tourist spending in Alberta totalled $7.41 billion? While tourism can be an important economic contributor, many municipalities may not know how to effectively harness it.
While tailored to small communities, the Tourism Vitality Alberta (TVA) toolkit allows any municipality to quickly assess strengths and opportunities for tourism, access information and resources, and determine actions to increase tourism. The toolkit includes three tourism case studies from small communities (two from Alberta), and an accompanying video instruction guide. The TVA toolkit was made possible thanks to a grant from Alberta Culture and Tourism.
You can find out more about this exciting new resource during AUMA’s Convention. Make sure to attend the Small Communities Committee session on Wednesday September 23, from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. to learn more about how to improve tourism development for your community.
If you miss the Convention session, you can register to attend a webinar on October 14 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
