AUMA, AAMDC and the Recycling Council of Alberta (RCA) are hosting a workshop on September 12, 2017, to explain how Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs are beneficial in holding producers and consumers accountable for managing waste relating to packaging and printed materials. The workshop profiles successful EPR programs in British Columbia and Ontario.
As Alberta is the only province west of Quebec that does not have these programs, AUMA has been advocating for the provincial government to make legislative changes to enable EPR so that the burden of dealing with waste from packing and printed materials is not downloaded to municipalities. RCA’s website provides registration details and more information on the workshop.
