Seeking member input on training for 2021 municipal candidates

AUMA, RMA and Alberta Municipal Affairs are working together to develop online training for individuals intending to run in the 2021 municipal elections.

Municipal Affairs will provide content on legislation and procedural matters, while the municipal associations will share information and insight on what candidates need to know about being an elected official.

We would like your feedback on what topics or information should be included in the training: legislation, procedures, roles of elected officials and administration, general tips, insights on being an elected official, etc.

Please send your feedback to Jody Dittrich, Policy Analyst, at jdittrich [at] auma.ca (jdittrich[at]auma[dot]ca) by Friday, January 8, 2021.

Also, AUMA and RMA will again team up through the Elected Officials Education Program to deliver “Munis 101: The Essentials of Municipal Governance” following the Summer Village elections in the summer and general local elections in October 2021. Your municipality can meet the legislative requirements for training Council members by ensuring they complete this course.
