Fostering healthy settings where people learn, work, and play improves their well-being and quality of life. In addition to supporting physical activity and sports, recreation centres can also provide healthy food choices. This webinar showcases successful strategies used by recreation centres to sell and promote healthier food and beverages that can be used to support other healthy living efforts within your community.
The webinar also highlights the following projects:
- Eat, Play, Live: The Eat, Play, Live project is a research study exploring food environments in recreation facilities across Canada. Its goal is to encourage healthy food and beverage sales and integrate healthy food approaches into the day-to-day business of recreation centres.
- CHEERS: CHEERS is a multi-sectoral collaborative of organizations and individuals in Alberta that is fostering healthy eating environments in community recreation centers by facilitating information sharing and coordinated action.
- FARE: An initiative of the Alberta Policy Coalition for Chronic Disease Prevention, the Food Action in Recreation Environments (FARE) project uses a collaborative, evidence-based approach to promote healthy food environments in recreational facilities through policy change.
