SuperNet 2.0: An update on Bell’s take-over of Axia

The SuperNet contracts expired June 30, 2018. The government completed its award for SuperNet 2.0 to Bell prior to expiry, and that award also included an arrangement that services could continue with Axia through the transition. On August 31, 2018, Bell acquired Axia’s Canadian Operations which they announced September 4, 2018.  As a result of this change, some small municipalities have been left questioning what that means for them.

AUMA has been working with the province to determine the implications of the transition. The province maintains that it is “business as usual” and municipalities can proceed with transactions as they would’ve done prior to July 1.
