Take Action – Municipalities at risk unless recycling regulations are updated

July 5, 2017

The viability of programs such as those that manage used oil, tires and paint are in jeopardy unless changes are made to recycling regulations that enable these programs to recover their costs.   If regulatory changes are not made soon, responsibility for managing potentially hazardous substances will be downloaded to municipalities.

AUMA has developed a letter template  that municipalities can download and adapt to send to MLAs outlining the need for regulatory changes to improve waste management, as well as a background document that provides more information on the issue and proposed solutions.

Check out AUMA’s Waste Management Hub for more information on waste management and what your municipality can do to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.
